The Limpopo Department of Education (LDOE) is inviting unemployed young South African citizens to apply for 120 fixed-term Learner Support Agent (LSA) positions for the period November 2025 to April 2026. These temporary posts are designed to bolster school-based and district-based support services across the province.
Number & Placement of Posts
Total available positions: 120
Roles are split between School-Based LSAs and District-Based LSAs.
Placements will be across various districts in the Limpopo Province.
Main Purpose
For School-Based LSAs:

Provide care, protection and psychosocial support to vulnerable learners.
-
Assist with trauma debriefing, case management and referral services.
-
Establish and manage peer-clubs (e.g., Soul Buddyz) at school level.
-
Conduct home visits and prepare monthly reports.
-
Support mobilisation and awareness programmes.
For District-Based LSAs:
-
Lead implementation of HIV/AIDS, Life Skills and psycho-social support (PSS) programmes.
-
Supervise and guide school-based LSAs.
-
Collect and record data to identify high-burden schools.
-
Collaborate with School-Based Support Teams (SBSTs) and community partners.

Facilitate referral systems and coordinate peer-education initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
School-Based LSAs should have:

A National Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
-
A recognized Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Auxiliary Social Work (advantageous).

Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) is an added benefit.

Age range: 18 – 40 years.
District-Based LSAs should have:

A recognized Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, Auxiliary Social Work or Psychology (as recognised by SACSSP).

Two years’ experience working in schools or learner-support programmes (advantageous).

SACSSP registration is an added benefit.

Age range: 18 – 40 years.
Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate:

Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
-
Strong listening, problem-solving and interpersonal capabilities.
-
Computer literacy (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
-
Ability to work well in teams and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
-
People-management and empowerment skills (especially for district-based posts).
